2022 – 2023 Western Australia State Nomination FULL Requirements

You can apply for Western Australia (WA) state nomination through 2 streams.

1. General Streams

This stream is open to applicants who have a nominated occupation identified on the WASMOL schedule 1 or WASMOL schedule 2. Visit the occupation lists page to check eligible occupations.

Here are the requirements:

  • You must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirements for subclass 491 / 190 visa
  • You have at least Competent English 
  • If you are applying for General Stream schedule 1, you must meet the work experience requirement*: 
    • have at least 1 year of Australian work experience in the nominated occupation over the last 10 years; or
    • have at least 1-year overseas work experience in the nominated occupation over the last 10-year

*Work experience is only counted for paid employment with at least 20 work hours per week after receiving your qualification

  • If you are applying for a 190 visa, you must provide a contract of employment in your nominated occupation for full-time employment (at least 35 hours per week) in WA, for at least 6 months. It is not required for 491 visa applicants.

Eligible WA graduates can apply for this stream if they fulfil the following requirements:

  • You have an occupation on the Graduate occupation list
  • You must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirements for subclass 491 / 190 visa
  • You have at least Competent English 
  • You have a Western Australian qualification (AQF level 3 or above) from an accredited educational institution for at least 2 years
