Foundation Programs provide pathway to international students to Bachelor degree programs in Universities. Most of the foundation programs do not require result from external examinations. Student’s academic performance, attendance and internal examinations are the major for assessment instead. Students can directly get into the Bachelor degree after completing foundation program as long as they meet the requirement.

Most foundation programs have two intakes each year: February and August. Duration of the standard program is about one year, but there are also extended program and express program which tailored to students with different academic and English level. For courses in foundation program, student must take English as a compulsory course and should choose 3-4 courses according to their bachelor degree preference and own interest.

1.International Education Services (IES)

IES College is an affiliated college of The University of Queensland (UQ). They provide foundation courses for international students to help them get into UQ. IES mainly offers three programs which are Standard, Express and Extended respectively. Students can choose the one that suits them the most in accordance with their academic performance and English proficiency.

IES offers many subjects for students. Except of Academic English and Mathematics, students have to opt 3 more electives from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, Business Management, Economic, Behavioural Science, Information Technology, Research, Architecture and so on. Students can choose their elective by their personal interests, abilities as well as the requirements of their targeted Bachelor degree.

2. Taylors College

Taylors College is an affiliated college of The University of Sydney. They mainly provide 3 programs which are Standard, Intensive and Extended respectively. Academic English and and Mathematics are compulsory for all students. While other courses would be recommended by the school in accordance to students’ targeted Bachelor degree. Taylors College offers diversified subjects for students. Apart from traditional academic subjects (such as Business, Science, Social Science), they also provide Music, Visual Art Studies.

Trinity College is an affiliated college of The University of Melbourne. They provide various foundation programs for students who aim at studying in The University of Melbourne. Program types include Main intakes, Fast track intakes, Main plus intakes and Extended intakes for ensuring students with different backgrounds and abilities can make it. In their foundation programs, English and History of ideas are compulsory for all students. To complete the program, students need to chooses 3 more electives. Here are the electives options: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, Economics, Media and Communication, Environment, Development & Design, Practical Music, Mathematics and Psychology. Griffith College is an affiliated college of Griffith College. Students in foundation year must take Academic Communication Skills, Computer Skills and Intercultural Studies. Students need to take electives from the following subjects as well: Accounting, Advanced Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Essential Mathematics, System Analysis, Management, Marketing, Media studies as well as Society studies.
